Motorcycle Accidents

According to recent findings of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, along with a spike in motorcycle registrations in the state of Florida, Floridians saw an increase in the number of motorcycle fatalities.

With the number of motorcycles registered in the state and the number of motorcyclists visiting the state, is it any surprise that Florida leads the nation in the number of motorcycle fatalities with a staggering 530 fatalities in 2007?

The Leading Causes of Motorcycle Accidents:

  • The failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic. Most often, the driver of the other vehicle did not see the motorcycle before the collision occurred, or did not see the motorcycle until it was too late to avoid the collision. Reports indicate the driver of the other vehicle violated the motorcycle right-of-way and caused the accident.
  • In instances of motorcycles accidents not involving another vehicle, the leading cause of the motorcycle accident was a collision with the roadway or some fixed object in the environment. In some instances the object was the result of negligence on the part of the municipality to properly maintain its roadways.

If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident with another vehicle or in a motorcycle accident caused by roadway debris or obstruction contact The Law Office of J. Stanford Morse, P.A. We have successfully represented hundreds of motorcycle accident victims in the state of Florida.
