DUI | Drunk Driving

Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs is epidemic in this country. Alcohol and drug related accidents are one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities on our nation’s roads and highways. In 2007, an estimated 12,998 people died in alcohol-related traffic crashes involving a driver with an illegal blood alcohol content (BAC .08 or greater).

These deaths represent over 30% of the 41,059 total traffic fatalities in 2007. Sadly, most of these deaths could have been avoided if the driver had chosen not to get behind the wheel of the vehicle in an impaired condition. In all states, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a crime punishable by law with penalties ranging from fines and suspension of license to imprisonment. According to USA Today, more than 1.5 million people were arrested in the United States last year for driving under the influence.

When an impaired driver gets behind the wheel of a car they jeopardize their own life and the lives of innocent people. If your life has been altered by the thoughtless and irresponsible actions of an individual operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, contact . With over 31 years of practical experience representing victims of drunk drivers, J. Stanford Morse can help assure you receive the compensation you deserve.

Increased Incidents of Women Driving Under the Influence Indicates a National Safety Issue:

Men continue to hold the record for the number of alcohol or drug related accidents; however, new statistics released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on August 19, 2009  indicate a rising trend among women  driving under the influence of alcohol. The NHTSA compared the number of alcohol-impaired female drivers involved in fatal crashes in 2008 to the 2007 statistics to reach their conclusions.
In support of these findings, statistics from the FBI, show arrests of women driving under the influence increased by almost 30% over a 10 year period.
